MezzoTomolo®, Primitivo di Manduria D.O.P. and Salento Rosato I.G.P., are the result of over twenty years of experience by Azienda Agricola Quidello in cultivating Primitivo di Manduria grapes — a variety to which the lands of the Ionian side of Apulia are naturally suited.
These are simple, authentic wines, crafted in the spirit of tradition and in full compliance with the strict standards of the Primitivo di Manduria D.O.P. regulations and the time-honored Salento winemaking heritage.
The name “Mezzo Tomolo” comes from an ancient unit of agricultural measurement — the tomolo — whose exact size varied depending on the region.
It was from half a tomolo of land that the small family-run Quidello farm was born. -
Pinot Noir is a “temperamental” grape variety that only yields its best to expert hands and the most suited terroirs.
We have cultivated it in the Valle d’Itria, a land dedicated for centuries to the production of high-quality grapes. The vineyard sits at 450 meters above sea level, benefiting from excellent ventilation and the vital temperature swings between day and night. We planted 11,000 vine cuttings of the two most prestigious Pinot Noir clones. Every agronomic decision we make is guided by a deep respect for nature, the environment, and the ecosystem. We practice green manure in the vineyard to support organic fertilization.
In the cellar, the wine matures in 228-liter French oak barriques, where it undergoes frequent bâtonnage, racking, and topping up.
The wine's clarity is achieved without the use of filtration or fining.Bottling takes place after one year of aging in French oak barriques.
This is how a unique wine is born — one that captures the true identity of the Valle d’Itria and delivers pure, unfiltered emotion.
